Bar pianist Mishu picks the wrong night to go into work when he becomes an unwitting victim in a robbery shootout. Thankful to have only lost his left leg in the incident, he also loses his nerve to ever play piano again. Broke and down on his luck, he reluctantly takes a job as a rather unsightly department store Santa, all the while declaring his dislike for the "kids of today."

Enter Liza, a precocious 8-year-old who has escaped from an orphanage on a wintry "Saint Santa's Day" to demand her rightful receipt of a new bicycle, just as her mother once promised she would get when she turned of age. Much to Mishu's chagrin, Liza takes to following Santa around all day to witness him beg, borrow and steal by any means possible. Liza is adamant that Santa will deliver on her mother's promise and take her to a bicycle store, but Mishu is too busy trying to parlay anything he gets into bigger winnings, either at pawn shops or at the racetrack. Not to mention his allencompassing
craving for sweets...

The Real Santa is a Holiday classic that shows us all how happiness really works in the world: you have to make someone else happy first.
